Every time Rastrivo Studio opens, the first thing you see is a little pixel art scene. This Christmas, I’d love that scene to be yours.
I’m running a festive pixel art competition. The winning entry becomes the holiday splash screen in Rastrivo Studio v1.2, seen by everyone who opens the app over the festive season, with your name in the credits.
There are two winners:
- Best overall: your art becomes the v1.2 holiday splash screen, credited by name (or handle) in the app under Help → About, and featured on this website and DenbiSoft’s socials.
- Best isometric:Â your art is featured on this website, on DenbiSoft’s socials and in the v1.2 announcement, and credited in the app alongside the splash.
The brief
- Theme:Â Christmas or the winter holidays. Snowy streets, cosy rooms, a workshop full of presents, a winter village: whatever festive means to you.
- Size: 160 × 90 pixels. That’s the size of the current splash screen, scaled up 16× in the app.
- Made in Rastrivo Studio. The free 30-day trial is all you need.
- Any pixel art style. Isometric scenes are especially welcome. Rastrivo’s iso tools make it quick to block out houses, rooms and snowy terrain, and there’s a guide to the isometric tools if you want a head start.
How to enter
Post your entry on Bluesky or X with the hashtag #RastrivoSplash, or email the PNG to support@denbisoft.co.uk.
Please export it at its real size (160 × 90) or at a whole-number scale such as 4× or 8×, so it stays crisp.
If you’re picked as a winner, I’ll ask you to send your .rastrivo project file before the win is confirmed, so it’s worth saving it as you go.
Closing date: Sunday 22 November 2026, 23:59 UK time. Winners will be announced by Friday 27 November 2026.
Tips
- Leave some breathing room. A splash screen is seen for a moment, so a clear focal point reads better than lots of tiny detail.
- Watch the edges. Keep important details away from the very edges of the canvas.
- Start your free trial when you’re ready to draw. You can export your entry any time during the 30-day trial.
- Share your progress! Work-in-progress posts with #RastrivoSplash are very welcome, and I’ll be resharing entries as they come in.
How the winners are chosen
I’ll pick the winners myself, looking at how well the scene works as a splash screen, how festive it feels and the quality of the pixel art. The best isometric winner is chosen from the isometric entries.
The rules
- Entry is free. No purchase is needed; the free trial of Rastrivo Studio is enough.
- Entries must be 160 × 90 pixel art made in Rastrivo Studio, on a Christmas or winter holiday theme.
- Up to two entries per person.
- Entries must be your own original work. No AI-generated art, no traced or copied art, and no characters or logos you don’t own.
- Enter by posting on Bluesky or X with #RastrivoSplash, or by emailing support@denbisoft.co.uk, before 23:59 UK time on 22 November 2026. Late entries can’t be accepted.
- Two winners will be chosen by DenbiSoft and contacted through the account or email address they entered with. Winners will be asked to send their originalÂ
.rastrivo project file to confirm the entry was made in Rastrivo Studio. If a winner can’t provide it, or doesn’t reply within 7 days, another winner may be chosen. - Your art stays yours. You keep the copyright. By entering, you give DenbiSoft permission to show your entry when sharing and promoting the competition. The winners also give DenbiSoft permission to use their art in Rastrivo Studio (including future seasonal versions) and to promote the app, always with credit.
- If you’re under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before entering.
- DenbiSoft may change or cancel the competition if it has to, for example if there aren’t enough entries. Any change will be posted here.
- This competition isn’t sponsored, endorsed or run by Microsoft, Bluesky or X.
Good luck, and happy pixelling! 🎅
